Role Summary

The Junior Equity Trader will serve as a key member of the TRPIM Equity Trading team, providing support across all areas of the trading desk while progressively assuming responsibility for trade execution across a broad range of products and global markets. This position is intended for an early‑career trading professional with relevant experience, a strong intellectual curiosity, a high degree of self‑motivation, and a demonstrated interest in financial markets.

Responsibilities
  • Provide flexible support across all areas of the equity trading desk as business needs and priorities evolve.
  • Exercise sound judgment and professional confidence in the independent execution of assigned trading responsibilities.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and workflow enhancements to improve execution quality, operating efficiency, and overall desk effectiveness.
  • Serve as a dependable resource to traders, portfolio managers, analysts, and operations teams through clear communication, responsiveness, and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Maintain continuous awareness of market‑moving developments, liquidity conditions, and relevant cross‑asset activity that may affect portfolio positioning and trading outcomes.
  • Contribute to new product launches, trading technology enhancements, and strategic initiatives designed to strengthen trading capabilities across the desk.
  • Assume sector coverage responsibilities, including communicating relevant developments in daily morning meetings, engaging with analysts regarding market activity and developments, and serving as a sector point of contact for external stakeholders.
  • Develop an understanding of ETF trading mechanics and support the execution of creation/redemption baskets, CIB trading, and related activities.
  • Build, maintain, and manage relationships with a broad range of broker‑dealers.
  • Adhere to established internal processes, policies, and controls designed to mitigate financial and operational risk.
  • Support a collaborative team environment through the proactive sharing of market intelligence, execution insights, and trading best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2–3 years of equity trading‑related experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets and investing.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to continuously expand trading knowledge and market expertise.
  • Demonstrated initiative and accountability, with a willingness to take ownership of challenges through to resolution.
  • Strong team orientation and willingness to support colleagues across all areas of the trading desk.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to build credibility and trust quickly.
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of information into clear, concise, and actionable insights.
Preferred
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • MBA, MA, or CFA designation, or progress toward one of these credentials.
  • Experience with data analysis, scripting, or automation tools such as Python, SQL, VBA, or similar technologies to enhance trading workflows.
  • Multi‑asset trading experience.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home.

Base Salary Ranges

Salary ranges are provided for specific locations and include $100,000.00–$140,000.00 for Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote workers; $100,000.00–$140,000.00 for Washington, D.C.; and $100,000.00–$140,000.00 for New York, California. Placement within the range is based on relevant experience and skills. Base salary is only one component of the total compensation package, and employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus determined upon company and individual performance.
