They analyze market trends, macroeconomic factors, and sector performance, then communicate insights to inform portfolio construction and asset allocation decisions. Regular meetings and presentations are common, ensuring alignment and timely response to market changes. This collaboration helps ensure strategies are both research-driven and practical for implementation.

Job description

Bloomberg Intelligence - US Equity Strategist
Location
New York
Business Area
Research
Ref #
10050020
Description & Requirements
Bloomberg Intelligence (BI) delivers independent, data-driven research and interactive datasets integrated into the Bloomberg Terminal, helping investment professionals make decisions faster. With 500+ research professionals, BI provides company, credit, industry and strategy research across major global markets, covering 135+ industries and 2,000+ companies, including perspectives on company fundamentals as well as government policy, litigation and ESG. Our research and datasets are delivered through curated Terminal dashboards and interactive research decks, with underlying data typically one click away, drawing on proprietary Bloomberg sources and 600+ data contributors.
Within the BI Equity Strategy team, you will be part of a global research initiative aimed at positioning Bloomberg Intelligence at the forefront of equity investing and thought leadership.
THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced U.S. Equity Strategist to join our Equity Strategy team. You bring a proven track record in equity strategy - ideally in a client-facing role with an established institutional following - and you're comfortable owning the full research process, from idea generation through to model development and publication. Experience engaging with media and public audiences is a real plus.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You'll own the U.S. equity research agenda at Bloomberg Intelligence, setting the direction for what we publish and how we communicate it. That means:
- Building scalable, repeatable research products that blend fundamental, technical, and quantitative perspectives - covering index valuation, earnings analysis, and sector-level trends in earnings, valuations, and investor sentiment.
- Designing and owning analytical models end-to-end: from the initial idea through specification, development, validation, and the research narrative that brings it to life.
- Publishing timely, ad hoc research on market-moving developments, with a clear point of view and genuine insight rather than a recap of what's already known.
- Serving as a regular external voice on U.S. equities through Bloomberg TV and other media properties, and representing our views at client meetings, conferences, and speaking engagements.
- Partnering with Core Product and Bloomberg Index Services (BISL) on equity data, terminal functionality, and new Bloomberg-branded index development.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years covering equity markets in a strategy or research-focused role
- A bachelor's or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline - Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
- Strong proficiency in econometric and statistical modeling, with real hands-on experience applying these to financial markets
- Familiarity with machine learning methodologies in a financial context
- Strong programming skills in Python, particularly pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and statsmodels
- Clear, compelling written and verbal communication - you can make a complex market view accessible without dumbing it down
- Published research on U.S. equity earnings, valuations, or market outlooks
- A track record of building models that have influenced investment decisions
BONUS POINTS FOR:
- Bloomberg Terminal experience and familiarity with its data ecosystem
Salary Range = 215,000 - 285,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
We offer one of the most comprehensive and generous benefits plans available and offer a range of total rewards that may include merit increases, incentive compensation (exempt roles only), paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability benefits, 401(k) +match, life insurance, and various wellness programs, among others. The Company does not provide benefits directly to contingent workers/contractors and interns.
