The Equity Research department covers over 925 stocks across diverse sectors, and provides equity strategy, quantitative analysis and portfolio management services to our clients. The US Equity Research department consists of 34 analysts and ~50 associates, covering over 600 stocks.

Description

We are seeking an Equity Research Associate to join our U.S. Real Estate/REITs team. The associate will work closely with the senior analyst to develop and market all equity research products. The role requires strong analytical / critical thinking skills, a passion for the stock market, keen attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

The work environment involves collaboration, co-ordination and a shared knowledge base with the analyst and rest of the team but equally values independence, initiative, idea generation and a sense of ownership for the work.

Ideal Candidate:

Our ideal candidate has 1-2 years of equity research or real estate finance experience, is fully licensed, and is interested in joining an established REIT team with coverage of over 80 companies. The person has a strong financial background and a desire to help create, launch, and support new research. Strong accounting and finance skills, a passion for real estate and the stock market and the ability to work on a fast-paced equity research team are critical. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Building and maintaining detailed company models (IS/BS/CF)
  • Analyzing financial statements and news related to industry coverage
  • Conducting store and channel checks
  • Writing equity research reports and over time, formulating investment theses
  • Participation in site visits and management meetings
  • Maintaining and analyzing industry data
  • Communicating investment recommendations to internal and external clients
  • Collaborate in developing tools and processes to gather industry and company-related news that can then be disseminated to clients as one-off products or incorporated in the group's normal research product
  • Work to establish industry, regulatory and political relationships to help better predict and/or handicap industry trends or company-related events
  • List any other responsibilities specific to your team, or delete anything not relevant

Experience/Skills

A combination of exceptional writing skills, technical knowledge and skills in equity research, finance or accounting demonstrated through relevant work and educational experience is required. Prior industry experience in the U.S. Real Estate/REITs industry is not required but could be a benefit. Candidates must have a clear and proven track record of achievement throughout their education and career. Other necessary attributes include:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing various priorities
  • Client service mindset and ability to prioritize client needs with accuracy
  • The ability to interact professionally with company management teams and clients (analysts and portfolio managers)
  • A keen interest in and demonstrated understanding of Equity Research
  • A positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, the ability to learn quickly and strong attention to detail
  • Superior work ethic, self-motivated and the ability to work both collaboratively as well as independently
  • Ability to systematically manage a heavy workload and meet stringent deadlines
  • Flexibility to work irregular and extended hours
  • Solid technology skills with robust knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg and/or FactSet
  • Demonstrated use of AI in the workplace
  • CFA Charter or working towards the CFA designation is a plus
  • List any other experience/skills you would like to see; delete anything not relevant

Education

A bachelor's degree is required. A post-secondary degree in a related field of study is a plus. U.S. only.

Equity Research Associate Salary Range:

The salary range for this role is $110,000 up to $140,000 USD (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements)

Senior Research Associate Salary Range:

The salary range for this role is $150,000 up to $180,000 USD (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements)
