JOB SUMMARY:
Plymouth-Canton is seeking to employ culturally responsive, equity-focused educators who create high-achieving learning environments for advanced and neurodiverse learners. This teacher will identify and systematically apply differentiated instruction, curriculum compacting, and authentic student agency to improve achievement and growth for gifted learners from all backgrounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.    Must possess a valid  Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Elementary Education.
2.    Applicants with specific coursework, training, or certification in identifying and instructing twice-exceptional (2e) and/or talented and gifted students are preferred.
3.    Applicants with experience in designing and implementing advanced, self-paced, or project-based learning experiences for learners are preferred.Â
RELEVANT UNDERSTANDINGS AND COMPETENCIES:
 Asynchronous Development: Deep awareness of the unique physical, social, emotional, and academic development of the gifted and talented learner.
Neurodiversity Expertise: A foundational understanding of the term neurodiversity and how it applies to gifted learners (including those with ADHD, Autism, or learning differences). Must possess a robust repertoire of practical strategies to support and scaffold neurodiverse learners in the classroom.
Curriculum Compacting: Demonstrated coursework or practical competency in curriculum compacting techniques to eliminate redundancy and facilitate advanced pacing or deep-dive enrichment.
Instructional Design: Proven evidence of designing student-centered units, inquiry-based models, or Project-Based Learning (PBL) that systematically embed student voice and choice.Â
Advanced Pedagogy: Familiarity with high-ability frameworks (such as Kaplan's Depth and Complexity) to ensure all learners are met with appropriate intellectual challenge.
Culturally Responsive and Inclusive Instruction: Possesses deep knowledge of culturally relevant pedagogy and applies these practices to honor students' diverse cultural backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. Designs and implements instruction that promotes belonging, student voice, high expectations, critical thinking, and equitable access to challenging learning opportunities.Â
Intervention Frameworks: Understanding of pertinent learning intervention practices, such as Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), tailored specifically to address both the gifts and deficits of twice-exceptional students.
Social-Emotional Architecture: Ability to provide a flexible, stable, and intellectually stimulating learning environment that proactively manages perfectionism, high anxiety, and executive functioning deficits while maintaining excellent classroom management.
 Professional Collaboration: Works collaboratively with grade-level teams and professional learning communities to discuss student work, share best practices, analyze data, and ensure appropriate intellectual challenge.
Community Relationships: Capable of nurturing the home-school-community relationship, building strong partnerships with families navigating the complexities of raising gifted and neurodiverse children.
EVALUATION: Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.
