Job description
Overview:
FPM Remediations, Inc. (FPMR) is currently seeking an Environmental Chemist I for a junior-level full-time position at one of its offices, in St Petersburg, FL; San Antonio, TX; or Oneida, NY. This position supports managing and validating laboratory and field data for field investigations across the United States.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position will support environmental data management and reporting for FPRM’s investigation and remediation programs. Data management and reporting responsibilities include:
- Support FPM’s Data Management System, including entering data into various federal and state data management and validation systems [e.g. Environmental Resources Program Info Management System (ERPIMS), Environmental Quality Information System (EQuIS)]
- Review Electronic Data Deliverables (EDDs) for completeness, formatting, and data quality
- Import, verify, and manage laboratory and field data in EarthSoft EQuIS
- Evaluate data quality and usability, including units, methods, qualifiers, detection limits, and coordinates
- Troubleshoot data load errors and document resolutions
- Prepare and submit ERPIMS data deliverables to the U.S. Air Force using ERPToolsX
- Provide data validation support to FPMR’s Senior Chemist for laboratory analytical report packages and assist in producing data validation reports.
- Assist in soliciting bids from analytical laboratories to support projects, which will include preparing descriptions of work scope (e.g., quantities/types of analyses, QA/QC requirements, reporting formats) and distributing to candidate laboratories with requests for pricing.
- Support development of Quality Assurance Project Plans for project sampling and analytical programs.
- Prepare tables, figures, and data summaries for technical reports
- Track submission status, validation feedback, and resubmittals
- Communicate data issues and required corrections with laboratories and internal project staff
- Follow established SOPs and assist with continuous improvement of data management workflows
- Occasional travel across the United States to support collection of field samples
Supervisory Responsibilities:
There are no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
- B.S. or higher in chemistry with coursework related to environmental science
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Problem solving skills in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to evaluate chemical and environmental data
- Able to clear security background check for federal facility access
- The following are desired but not required:
- Familiarity and interest in GIS software and applications
- Laboratory experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and data quality awareness
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office: Word, Excel, and Access)
- Ability to learn environmental databases and regulatory data systems
- Effective communication and technical writing skills
- Desire to work as part of a multidisciplinary project team
- Ability to adapt to changing situations
- Ability to travel for occasional field assignments across the country
- Ability to participate in safety training and follow company safety standards
- Experience with EQuIS, ERPToolsX, GIS, Power BI, SQL, or data visualization tools is a plus.

Fieldwork may involve performing physically demanding tasks and working 10-hour days (typically five (5) 10-hour days per week), potentially in adverse field conditions (cold, hot, high wind, dusty environment, rough terrain) in remote locations.
