Equipment Service Technician

Chet’s Rent-All is a family-owned, equipment and tool rental company serving contractors, homeowners, and hands-on project enthusiasts across the greater Detroit area since 1946. With eight locations and decades of trusted service, we provide reliable equipment, expert guidance, and solutions that help our customers get the job done right.
We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused Equipment Service Technician to join our team. This role ensures rental equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for customer use, playing a key part in delivering an outstanding rental experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in doing things the right way, and is eager to learn and grow. We provide training and support; we’re looking for team members with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service to all customers and partners.
  • Operate equipment for loading and unloading for customers, internal drivers, and outside haulers.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Explain safe operating procedures of equipment to customers.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure equipment is safe and in proper working condition.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard, storage areas, and workspaces.
  • Clean and maintain the appearance of equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on equipment or facility.
  • Complete inspection checklists and report issues to the Store Manager.
  • Inspect returned equipment for damage, missing parts, or maintenance needs.
  • Secure equipment to prevent accidents, hazards, or unauthorized use.
  • Support team members as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license required; Chauffeur license preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and other yard equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and handle equipment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
