Overview

The Rental Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Croell's equipment rental store, including equipment reservations, rentals, returns, customer service, inventory management, and equipment utilization. This applicant must be self-motivated, have the ability to perform light repairs on equipment and make deliveries. This position works closely with the Fleet Manager to ensure rental equipment is safe, well-maintained, and available for customers. The Rental Store Manager is responsible for developing customer relationships, maximizing equipment utilization and rental revenue, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all daily rental store operations, including equipment reservations, rentals, returns, inspections, and customer service.
  • Ensure rental agreements, contracts, and documentation are completed accurately and maintained properly.
  • Coordinate equipment availability to maximize utilization and rental revenue.
  • Monitor equipment rental rates and make recommendations to remain competitive within the market.
  • Resolve customer concerns and rental disputes in a professional and timely manner.
  • Perform equipment check-in and check-out inspections and document equipment condition.


Customer Service & Sales

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, municipalities, homeowners, and commercial customers.
  • Identify opportunities to increase rental revenue through upselling and cross-selling products and services.
  • Develop new customer relationships and grow the rental customer base.
  • Provide customers with equipment recommendations, operating instructions, and safety information.
  • Ensure customers receive exceptional service throughout the rental process.

Inventory & Store Management
  • Manage inventory levels of rental equipment, parts, supplies, attachments, and merchandise.
  • Conduct routine inventory audits and annual physical inventory counts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional rental facility and yard.
  • Monitor expenses and assist in managing the store budget.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in business, equipment management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of equipment rental, construction, fleet management, equipment sales, or similar experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction equipment, power tools, and heavy equipment operations.
  • Experience managing customer accounts and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with rental management software, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license required; Class A CDL.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, loaders, skid steers, and other equipment safely.
