Position Overview

We invite you to join the BlueSky Telepsych Counseling Center as a full-time Mental Health Counselor focused on weight management. This unique opportunity allows you to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals struggling with obesity and binge eating from the comfort of a remote work setting. With a competitive salary range of USD 90,000 to 105,000 per year, this position is ideal for candidates who are passionate about mental health and wish to support patients through their weight management journeys.

BlueSky Telepsych Counseling Center is a multi-specialty provider practice dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of our community in Everett, Washington. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality mental health services, including a comprehensive approach to weight management. As a community health clinic, we integrate services within a framework that includes a Level III Trauma Center, reinforcing our commitment to providing superior treatment options for the diverse needs of the individuals we serve.

Work Environment

This position is entirely remote, enabling our counselors to work flexibly while still contributing to a team-oriented healthcare environment. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, allowing for a focused work-life balance. Counselors are expected to work a minimum of 32 to 36 hours per week, and there are no on-call obligations, ensuring that you can devote your energy to your patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' mental health to identify emotional, psychological, and behavioral factors related to their weight management challenges.
  • Administer standardized assessment tools to evaluate mental health concerns and help guide treatment planning.
  • Facilitate individual counseling sessions with patients dealing with obesity and binge eating to address underlying emotional issues, behavioral patterns, and psychological aspects affecting their progress.
  • Design tailored treatment programs that reflect each patient's unique goals, preferences, and needs.
  • Educate patients on the psychological implications of weight control, including elements such as body image, self-esteem, stress management, and the development of coping strategies.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques to foster long-lasting changes in behavior.
  • Lead or co-facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on weight management, providing a supportive environment where patients can share experiences and receive guidance.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, dietitians, and physical therapists, to deliver holistic care to patients.
