The Application Analyst is primarily responsible for the development, deployment, post-implementation support, product design, and testing cycles of the Maestro Care (Epic) Electronic Health Record (EHR) for the Beaker module. This includes planning, performing, managing, and supporting identified Beaker users in the Duke University Health System environment. The incumbent will work closely with Epic and other Maestro Care application staff to create and carry out deployment tasks, interpret clinical workflow, and participate in Maestro Care Beaker application build, testing, and support. Advise and assist with educational issues, including cross-training team members, end-users, and DHTS Service Desk via face-to-face, phone, email, or training classes. Act as Maestro Care Beaker application expert for base functionality. Update test plans to account for testing new features with all releases.
Level 1
   Achieve additional Epic certification and proficiency through classroom instruction at Epic (Madison, Wisconsin), self-directed learning, project assignments, and competency exams.
   Interpret and analyze systems, data, and information with supervision.
   Implement applications, tools, processes, and structures that are crucial in assisting end users with data management. Your role is integral in ensuring our team's smooth and efficient workflow.
   Provide systems support, including troubleshooting and software configuration and testing.
   One of the key responsibilities of the Application Analyst is to ensure the security of technology solutions. This task is performed under supervision, highlighting the trust and responsibility associated with the role.
   Participate in planning and providing customer training sessions on system use or revisions.
   Assist in making oral and written presentations to project teams and management.
   Complete moderately complex tasks and portions of larger information system projects with direction.
   Identify internal resources to build project team performance.
   Update system, operational, and department documentation.
   Recommend areas for process improvement.
   Perform other related duties as required.
   Adhere to organizational policies and procedures and follow all change control processes defined within Maestro Care.
Level 2
   Perform in-depth analysis of end-user department workflows, data collection, report details, and technical issues associated with Epic software relating to system design and build decisions.
   Proactively complete assigned Maestro Care application deployment, management, and testing tasks within defined timelines.
   Manage documentation, resolution, and completion of identified deployment issues and tasks.
   Build, test, and debug Epic applications to ensure the system meets end-user requirements.
   Write and execute test plans, documenting and resolving defects within the Quality Center.
   Develop and document system and user procedures.
   Develop report specifications and work closely with writers to meet operational and regulatory reporting needs.
   Provide business and after-hours support for system production issues, including analysis, prioritization, and implementation of requested changes.
   Requires current Epic Beaker certification or the ability to complete certifications within the defined timeline.
   Make oral and written presentations to project teams, management, and other departments.
   Coordinate and operationalize simple to complex projects with direction.
   Identify areas for procedural improvements and provide detailed specifications for functions to be automated.
Level 3
   Functioned as a technical leader in managing documentation, assisting with prioritization and working with analysts to resolve deployment issues through Epic's Sherlock tracking systems.
   Optimize departmental and interdisciplinary resources to maximize team performance.
   Lead evaluation and revision of existing information systems.
   Assist in onboarding new team members, ensuring they are trained on all technical aspects of their position.
   Proactively apprise management of emerging technical issues and ensure processes and workflows are up-to-date and effective.
   May function as a team leader, supporting management in day-to-day personnel oversight and workflow management activities, providing guidance and support where applicable, overseeing performance management, and ensuring departmental coverage.
   Perform in-depth analysis of end-user department workflows, data collection, report details, and technical issues associated with Epic software.
   Responsible for defined areas of Nova, including analysis of release notes, reporting metrics, validation, and resolution before implementation of designated RA and/or SU provided by Epic.
Required Qualifications
   Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in a related clinical or technical field or four years of equivalent technical experience.
   License/Certification: Epic proficiency in application support is required within the timeline defined by Maestro Care policies.
Experience
   Level 1: One to two years of related experience required. Clinical Laboratory experience is strongly recommended.
   Level 2 and three to five years of related experience required. Clinical Laboratory experience is required.

Preferred Experience
   Experience with Data Innovation Instrument Manager.
   Experience with Transfusion applications such as SafeTrace Tx
   Strong knowledge of Microbiology Beaker CP build.
   Experience with Digital Pathology image analysis and data management systems 
   Proven experience in IT infrastructure management (servers, networks, etc.).
   Understanding of machine learning, natural language processing, and AI technologies.
   Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
