Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a night-shift position requiring Epic experience and a 1:4 patient ratio in a specialized BMT/leukemia unit.

Details
  • >Hematology, Medical Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Gynecologic & Surgical Oncology patient population
  • Work in a 7-bed positive pressure wing dedicated to BMT and acute leukemia patients
  • Unit performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Floating required
  • No call-in required
  • Uses Alaris IV pumps (Epic-integrated), barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
Requirements
  • >Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand at time of submittal
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 2 years of specialty experience preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
  • ONS certification preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, accessing and managing ports, and peripheral line care required
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
  • Experience with central line blood draws, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
  • Experience managing colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tubes preferred
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code teams preferred
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and PCA medication management preferred
  • Experience in MS/Tele and telemetry settings preferred
  • Experience with post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, and post-MI care preferred
  • Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care preferred
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration
Additional Information
  • >Provide direct patient care to oncology, hematology, and BMT patients including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
  • Perform central line care, port access, and IV management as part of daily responsibilities
  • Monitor patients for dysrhythmias and respond using rapid response/code team protocols as needed
  • Orientation held five days a week
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are not accepted; must reside 65+ miles from the facility (per driver's license address)
  • Candidates must have RTO discussed and finalized prior to interview to avoid offer rescission
  • Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full year separation from the health system before returning as a travel candidate
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended on-site presence during emergency events, per facility policy
