Summary:
The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) is responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership to drive the transformation in healthcare delivery through the use of data, information, knowledge, and expertise. This leader facilitates collaboration with administration, system nursing administration, medical staff, system electronic information, and the Baptist One Care team to maintain the standards of nursing practices and information systems. Manages and maintains electronic medical records systems operating policies to improve patient care outcomes. Acts as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation, and value measurement of information strategies to support quality patient care and professional practice.
Job Responsibilities:
Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice; aligns people, processes, and technology to support evidence-based information systems that enable the delivery of efficient and effective nursing care across the organization.
Participates as a key strategic partner in providing informatics expertise in the planning and implementation of new care delivery models.
Evaluates organizational informatics infrastructures and makes recommendations for structures that can better support the evolution of care models
Provides consultation in the analysis of potential options for requested complex enhancements to the EHR that impact multiple departments and geographic markets.
Contributes to policy and procedure development that will be used in conjunction with the evolving use of new technologies.
Develops methodologies to measure and evaluate the outcome of clinical system implementations.
Conducts routine communication with vendors; works with vendors to tailor content to organizational needs and potential for improvements to support clinical optimization.
Understands emerging trends and promotes innovation in nursing practice through new technology.
Maintains alignment to support research and outcomes.
Maintains relationships with clinicians and advocates use of clinical information systems to support clinical decision support, evidence-based practice, and patient safety.
  • Participates in defining and formulating nursing initiatives and projects that will enable the realization of the organization's vision.
  • Provides direction and support to nursing informatics staff in developing their capabilities.
  • Chair and participates in relevant advisory groups to provide broad-based input into the design and use of technology impacting nursing processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Master's in Nursing (MSN) required
Masters in Nursing Informatics desired
5 years progressive, outcome oriented nursing leadership experience.
Experience in medical informatics, clinical systems implementation, process and workflow re-design and change management associated with introduction of technology tools to the clinical culture
Experience with Epic Systems electronic health record
Knowledge of health care issues, trends, legal compliance and managed care with emphasis in all components and nursing operations.
Ability to foster collaborative partnerships in the development, implementation and administration of service and program delivery.
Specialty Certification preferred
