Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Behavioral Health (General Psychiatry/Dual Diagnosis)
Location: Cleveland Heights, Ohio
Facility: MetroHealth Cleveland Heights Medical Center
Job Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: August 3, 2026
Shift: Nights – Three 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join an Inpatient Behavioral Health team providing care to adult psychiatric and dual-diagnosis patients. The RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered nursing care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, and supporting patients throughout their behavioral health treatment.
This position may require floating within the medical center based on patient care needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to inpatient behavioral health patients.
Perform patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
Monitor patient safety, behavioral status, and therapeutic progress.
Respond effectively to psychiatric emergencies and support crisis intervention when needed.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR).
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
Promote a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Active, unrestricted Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Minimum of one (1) year of RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Nursing experience.
Experience caring for General Psychiatry and Dual Diagnosis patients.
De-escalation training such as CPI or Welle.
Schedule
Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Three 12-hour shifts per week
Every other weekend required
Holiday rotation required
Overtime available as needed
Additional Information
13-week contract assignment.
EPIC electronic medical record system.
Active Ohio RN license required prior to start date.
BLS certification must be from the American Heart Association.
No guaranteed hours.
Candidates should possess excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills while maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced behavioral health setting.
