"The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer designs, develops, and supports reporting and analytics solutions that enable clinical, operational, and financial decision-making. BI Developers are aligned to a primary reporting platform based on organizational needs and role assignment. Primary platforms include:
• Epic Analytics (Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Radar)
• Enterprise BI Platforms (Power BI, Paginated Reports)
• Workday Reporting & Prism Analytics"
As a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer, you will provide technical assistance across the Business Intelligence team and ensure analytics solutions are consistent, scalable, and aligned across reporting platforms, and will serve as a technical expert and thought leader in enterprise analytics. You will architect advanced BI solutions, design scalable data models, and lead initiatives that integrate data across multiple systems. This role requires deep expertise in BI technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence technical direction and standards for the organization.

  • Partner with BI Managers, Data Engineering, and Product Owners to implement strategies for system upgrades, platform enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Review and prioritize technical initiatives within the domain, ensuring incremental delivery aligns with roadmap objectives and resource constraints.
  • Identify potential risks early and communicate mitigation strategies to managers and stakeholders before escalation is required.
  • Understands how Epic, enterprise BI, and Workday reporting interact
  • Align analytics solutions with organizational goals
  • Translate strategic objectives into analytics solutions
  • Integrates AI/GenAI capabilities into BI solutions (e.g., natural language querying, automated insights); evaluates AI-generated code and outputs for accuracy, bias, security, and governance compliance
  • **Innovation and Process Improvement
  • Proactively identify and lead improvements to reporting workflows and data integration processes, introducing automation and advanced methodologies where applicable.
  • Evaluate, validate, and recommend new data sources that drive measurable business outcomes. Collaborate with content development and engineering teams to ensure usability and integration consistency.
  • Establish and maintain robust documentation standards for datasets and models, ensuring alignment with governance frameworks and enterprise best practices.
  • Participate in and lead workshops, providing insights and recommendations for systemic process improvements across teams and business units.
  • Ensure all BI initiatives adhere to data security, governance, and organizational standards while promoting best practices for scalability and sustainability.
  • Drive adoption of new tools and capabilities

  • Leads pilots of AI-enabled BI features and emerging AI capabilities, evaluating their impact on efficiency, quality, and scalability; shares findings with the broader team

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent years in experience)
  • 5 or more years experience in healthcare environment
  • 6 or more years *SQL experience in a relational database or an equivalent combination of education and experience;*experience developing applications with one or more business intelligence tools such as Epic Reporting Epic Cogito Reporting, Power BI, SAP Business Objects, Workday Report Writer or equivalent;*experience in data literacy, using data storytelling and interpretation techniques to uncover insights, influence stakeholder decisions, and drive data-backed, measurable outcomes.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Business/ Health Administration, Computer Science/ or related field
  • *Experience with database management technologies;*Experience in database building, maintenance, and reporting;*Experience with BI visualization, Workday, or Epic Reporting;*Experience with Vizient or related healthcare improvement companies.;*Project management, Lean, Six Sigma, Agile certification;*Experience using data mining/analytical methods and associated tools such as Python, R, etc.;* Experience with on premise database management technologies;*Experience with cloud service such as Azure Cloud, Synapse, Data Factory, Azure SQL;*Experience with on premise database management technologies;*Exposure to Epic Clarity/Caboodle, Power BI semantic modeling, or Workday Prism
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI/GenAI tools and prompt engineering to optimize BI development workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and evaluate AI-enabled platform features (e.g., Copilot for Power BI, Epic AI/NLP capabilities)
