About the Position

The Assistant Project Manager will play an integral role in the daily operations of the company and contribute to its overall success. This position will support the Development and Construction Department.

The ideal candidate is a person who is willing to learn, and in doing so is not fearful of accepting new tasks and responsibilities to seek solutions to complex issues and achieve desired project goals. This individual can work independently, demonstrate reliability, pro-activeness, strong communication, organization, and task management techniques, while maintaining professionalism in the face of deadlines.

The Assistant Project Manager will perform the responsibilities generally described below, as well as any additional duties as needed to support the overall objectives of the company:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in all phases and aspects of assigned projects
  • Thoroughly review project documentation and reporting to be familiar with all requirements
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and identify and communicate project risks
  • Understands and can communicate the CEQA process and incorporate CEQA tasks into project schedules
  • Facilitate client facing meetings and identify actions required as needed
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of technical studies, jurisdictional requirements and comments, conditions of approval, and mitigation measures
  • Able to prioritize project deliverables across multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of project description components and identify and correct any inaccuracies
  • Develop and own jurisdictional relationships to support project success
  • Mentors and delegates tasks to junior associates including coordinators and senior coordinators
  • Effectively coordinate project task completion with key team members throughout the company
  • Maintain consistent communications with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project life cycle
  • Assist with tracking and coordinating contracts including the subconsultant bid process and anticipates change orders
  • Uphold EPD core values in everyday interactions with internal and external partners

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience and a bachelor's in a related field preferred; or a combination of equivalent education and work experience required.
  • Experience in reading technical reports, construction and design drawings, and municipal codes required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
  • Proven interpersonal skills with emphasis on communication and emotional intelligence
  • Passion for learning all aspects of development and construction including CEQA and technical studies
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with development related software (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, and/or Bluebeam) required
