Job Summary

Manages all aspects of large Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC)/Service projects, including risk to cost, schedule, quality. Responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of contracted engineering, procurement, and construction scope in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction. Provides for the successful staffing of the project. Manages and leads large teams of multi-discipline professionals. Coordinates and integrates the activities associated with the engineering, procurement, construction, and startup elements of the project team, including the activities of all third party companies contributing to the initiative. 

Provides executive-level leadership for utility-scale battery energy storage projects, which may also include transmission, substation, renewable energy, and related infrastructure components. Serves as the primary point of accountability for overall project delivery and performance, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, contractual commitments, and client expectations. Directs project teams through all phases of project execution while fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, quality, innovation, and operational excellence. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees, directs and guides Project Managers to manage large engineering projects involving multiple clients or partners or medium EPC projects.  
  • Manages multiple clients and/or projects where the project team, client structure and/or project location present greater challenges. 
  • Obtains new/repeat business on large size projects; supports contract negotiations with clients. 
  • Champions safety excellence and promotes a culture focused on zero incidents and continuous improvement. 
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and development for Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineering Managers, and other execution personnel. 
  • Manages multiple risks which may includes fixed price or new technology or new clients. 
  • Provides overall leadership and strategic direction for EPC projects from proposal through final completion and closeout. 
  • Oversees development and execution of project delivery strategies, execution plans, staffing plans, and resource management plans. 
  • Accountable for project financial performance, including revenue recognition, forecasting, cost control, cash flow management, change management, and margin achievement. 
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with executive client stakeholders, major subcontractors and suppliers, and internal leadership. 
  • Supports business development efforts, proposal preparation, project pursuit strategies, and client relationship management activities. 
  • Facilitates resolution of complex commercial, contractual, technical, labor, regulatory, and stakeholder issues. 
  • Oversees, supports and guides project recovery efforts when required to address schedule delays, cost overruns, productivity challenges, or other performance issues. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • 12 years of progressive experience. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field. 
  • Experience managing large EPC projects within the utility, power delivery, generation, renewable energy, or energy infrastructure sectors. 
  • Demonstrated success managing complex EPC contract structures, including lump sum, EPC, EpCM, alliance, and or design-build delivery models. 
  • Experience serving in senior project leadership roles with full profit and loss accountability on projects. 
  • Experience leading multi-office, geographically dispersed, and matrixed project teams. 
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in risk management, change management, claims avoidance, and contract administration. 
  • Experience with utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission, and or substation, or generation projects. 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to travel as required to support project execution and client engagement. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
