Job description

About the Position
We are seeking an experienced senior process engineering leader with deep expertise in one or more of our core markets and the ability to lead people, clients, and projects across the broader energy portfolio. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of process engineering experience within the power and energy industry and demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept development through detailed design. Experience with power generation facilities, natural gas compressor stations, LNG facilities, gas processing facilities, and other midstream and downstream infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
This position requires a technically strong engineer who is comfortable serving as the process lead, interfacing directly with clients, developing engineering work plans and labor-hour estimates, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating process activities across multiple disciplines and projects simultaneously.
Knowledge & Experience
  • 10+ years of process engineering experience within the power and energy industry
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
  • Strong experience in one or more of the following areas: power generation, natural gas compressor stations, LNG facilities, gas processing, and other midstream and downstream infrastructure
  • Demonstrated experience leading process engineering activities across multiple concurrent multidisciplinary EPC projects, including resource planning, work prioritization, technical oversight, and coordination of process engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing project priorities while maintaining technical quality and schedule commitments.
  • Strong client-facing experience, including leading technical meetings, presenting engineering solutions, and developing long-term client relationships.
  • Experience preparing engineering proposals, scopes of work, labor-hour estimates, and technical execution plans.
  • Proven ability to supervise and mentor junior and mid-level engineers and designers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering design principles, applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Extensive experience developing and reviewing process engineering deliverables including:
    • Heat and Mass Balances
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Process calculations
    • Equipment sizing and specifications
    • Relief system design
    • Hydraulic analyses
    • Control philosophies and narratives
  • Experience reviewing and approving vendor drawings, calculations, and equipment packages.
  • Strong understanding of process safety principles including HAZOP support, relief system design, and applicable industry standards.
  • Proficiency with process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, ProMax, CHEMCAD, or PRO II.
  • Experience using hydraulic modeling software such as AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, or PIPE-FLO.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • For candidates whose experience includes power generation projects, the following is desirable:
  • Working knowledge of utility and industrial power generation systems, including simple-cycle and combined-cycle facilities, plant modernization projects, brownfield expansions, and greenfield developments.
  • Understanding of power generation processes and thermodynamic cycles, including fuel, steam, water, and balance-of-plant systems.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university (Mechanical Engineering considered with significant applicable process engineering experience).

Responsibilities
  • Lead process engineering teams by providing technical direction, mentoring, quality oversight, and review of process engineering deliverables while coordinating resources across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Promote continuous improvement of process engineering standards and work practices through development of training initiatives.
  • Support business development efforts through proposal preparation, technical presentations, scope development, and client meetings.
  • Serve as the Process Lead on multidisciplinary engineering projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering and construction support and ensure process engineering deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet client quality expectations.
  • Balance workload and priorities across multiple projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Develop project execution strategies, and process engineering work plans and staffing plans.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated designs and efficient workflow.
  • Identify technical risks, scope changes, and opportunities for design optimization throughout project execution.
  • Serve as the primary process engineering interface with clients, licensors, and vendors. Participate in client meetings and technical presentations.
  • Lead development and review of:
    • Design Basis Memoranda
    • Heat and Mass Balances
    • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Equipment specifications and datasheets
    • Process calculations
    • Hydraulic studies
    • Utility summaries
    • Relief system documentation
    • Equipment and line lists
  • Provide technical leadership during HAZOPs, design reviews, constructability reviews, and client workshops.
  • Support project cost estimate, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities as required.
  • Review and approve vendor design and fabrication drawings, equipment packages, technical submittals, and construction documents to ensure compliance with process design requirements, applicable industry codes and standards, project specifications, and engineering best practices.
