Job description

Lexicon offers a unique combination of capabilities. Our services include construction management, fabrication, erection, mechanical installation, and plant maintenance for heavy industrial, commercial, and roadway projects, as well as a full spectrum of golf course construction and management services.

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer with a strong background in large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects within the metals and minerals sector. The successful candidate will lead electrical system design and execution for smelters, refineries, mineral processing facilities, and heavy industrial infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in electrical system design and execution across all EPC project phases (FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning).
  • Develop and approve power distribution systems, substation layouts, grounding and earthing systems, lighting, fire detection, and backup power systems.
  • Review and validate engineering deliverables including single-line diagrams, cable schedules, load lists, and technical specifications.
  • Perform and review short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, and protection coordination studies using ETAP or similar tools.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC, and other international standards.
  • Supervise and support installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to ensure full system integration.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical direction to subcontractors and EPC partners.
  • Interface directly with clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical issues and align deliverables.

Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 15+ years' experience in electrical engineering, with at least 8 years in EPC projects in metals/mining/heavy industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency with ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, and other electrical design software.
  • In-depth knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power distribution, substations, motors, and industrial automation systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.

Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer Physical Demands

  • Primarily office-based with extended computer use.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Periodic site visits may expose the employee to noise, dust, weather conditions, and construction hazards.
  • Personal protective equipment may be required during site visits.
