Renewables Project EPC Accountant - Transmission Substation Infrastructure
LOCATION: Austin, TX area - Relocation Assistance available
HYBRID - Office and Work From Home Schedule
A developer and operator of high voltage transmission renewable energy systems is looking to grow its Operational Accounting Leadership Team with the addition of a Renewables EPC Financial Accountant focused on financial operations of T&D Substation engineering projects.
This is a business critical role that works directly with the company's Corporate Finance, EPC Operations, and Accounting Teams. The position requires experience managing the financial accounting aspects of major capital greenfield and brownfield substation projects. Experience with construction accounting principles and workflows is required.
The organization has a flat structure which gives their employees direct access to executive management and the ability to gain a diverse amount of experience on various projects.The scope of their operations includes transmission (t-line), substation, regional control centers, and distribution systems with interconnects to both utility-scale solar and wind assets.

Responsibilities:
  • Renewables EPC Financial Accountant / Project Accountant - Work directly with accounting, construction, and project management teams to monitor project cost and budget
  • Renewables EPC Financial Accountant / Project Accountant - Forecast accrual and cost according to project budget
  • Renewables EPC Financial Accountant / Project Accountant - Complete month-end close activities, including analysis of accounts and preparation of journal entries
  • Renewables EPC Financial Accountant / Project Accountant - Develop reports on financial status of concurrent projects and present updates and forecasts to accounting and project groups
  • Renewables EPC Financial Accountant / Project Accountant - Work with 3rd party vendors to ensure accurate invoicing and collection procedures

Skills/Requirements:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3-6+ years of experience in cost accounting, project accounting, or related experience
  • MUST have experience with Project Based Accounting - EPC, Construction, Service Contracts, Leases
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Ability to perform cost forecasting (Accrual and Cash), estimation, and completion analysis
  • Knowledge of Oracle financial software - preferred
  • Ability to perform accounting functions in MS Excel
  • MUST be well versed in dealing with financial statements, financial reports, and financial reviews (account reconciliations, accruals, deposits, contracts, capitalization, and leases)
  • Previous experience in renewable energy, utilities, EPC, or engineering industries - Electrical T&D experience preferred
