Primary Role

Indiana American Water is seeking a motivated, compliance-driven Water Qualiity & Environmental Compliance Program Manager to join our team in Northwest Indiana. Our ideal candidate will be influential in collaborating across the business. In this role, you will interact daily with local operations. You will oversee compliance including sampling, reporting, and chemical safety. As the Water Quality & Environmental Compliance Program Manager, you will be essential in ensuring we meet regulatory deadlines and compliance standards are met.

Key Accountabilities
  • Assists local, State and Federal regulatory agencies during inspections
  • Responds (on-call) to Water Quality or compliance problems, taking appropriate corrective action including documentation to advise management
  • Ensures that customer complaints or inquiries are properly addressed to attempt to resolve any issues
  • Reports on problems and issues regarding Water Quality and standards
  • Assures that policies, programs, standards of performance and approved objectives related to wastewater and water quality are adhered to
  • Assists in the procurement of treatment chemicals and manages receipt of chemical supplies to assure adequate supply along with monitoring equipment, chemical feeds, etc. to ensure standards are maintained
  • Assists with training of plant operating staff, field services and other wastewater and water quality personnel in treatment practices and environmental initiatives
  • Supports wastewater and water quality activities related to the Environmental Management Program to ensure compliance with SDWA/CWA regulations are continually met
  • Plan, prepare and control the portion of the financial plan related to area of responsibility
  • Conduct special projects and prepare reports
Knowledge/Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of water and wastewater treatment preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of wastewater, water quality, and environmental regulations affecting the business preferred
  • Must be able to distinguish colors to conduct testing using normal colorimetric methods.
Experience/Education
  • Bachelors degree or a combination of equivalent work experience
  • Minimum Two (2) to four (4) years experience in water, and/or wastewater, and laboratory operations
  • Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment license preferred
Travel Requirements
  • Must hold valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving record
  • In-state travel is required
Work Schedule
  • Full-time, on-site
  • Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm
  • On-call responsibility as needed
