Mechanical Engineer
Surface Ships | Electromechanical Systems
Pittsfield, MA

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Surface Ships / Electromechanical Systems to support U.S. Navy Surface Ship programs by designing, developing, testing, and integrating mission-critical mechanical and electromechanical systems. This role supports the complete product lifecycle, including mechanical design, CAD modeling, electronics packaging, manufacturing support, installation, environmental testing, and engineering documentation in a collaborative DoD engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, analyze, test, and implement mechanical and electromechanical systems for U.S. Navy Surface Ship programs.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering efforts supporting the design, fabrication, testing, installation, and sustainment of shipboard equipment.
  • Develop mechanical designs, 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using CAD tools.
  • Perform mechanical analysis to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and government requirements.
  • Support prototype development, system integration, production, installation, and verification testing.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, production, quality, and installation teams to resolve technical issues and improve product performance.
  • Support environmental qualification testing and validation activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, government specifications, and industry requirements.
  • Prepare engineering documentation, reports, technical papers, and design packages throughout the product development lifecycle.

Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline plus 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software to develop mechanical models and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, mechanical design principles, and product development.
  • Experience working with technical documentation, engineering drawings, and applicable government and industry standards.
  • Experience supporting mechanical system integration, testing, and production activities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience with electronics packaging design.
  • Production engineering or manufacturing support experience.
  • Installation support for mechanical or shipboard systems.
  • Environmental testing and qualification experience.
  • Mechanical modeling, structural analysis, or engineering analysis experience.
  • Experience developing detailed engineering drawings and design documentation.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy, maritime, or Department of Defense programs.
