The Opportunity:


DS is currently seeking a Junior Environmental Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to further develop their career in civil engineering. Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical services in a field and office environment.
  • Working on all assignments on projects of low to high complexity
  • Writing reports, proposals and technical specifications
  • Completing analysis of information and report preparation


Key Qualifications, Education & Skills:


  • Civil Engineering diploma, preferably with a focus on Environmental and/or Geotechnical Engineering
  • One (1) - two (2) years of related experience in environmental engineering and field investigations (preferably in a consulting environment) is an asset
  • Ability to complete Phase One Environmental Site Assessments, Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments, Soil and Groundwater Remediation and Records of Site Condition
  • Excellent computer skills, proficiency with common industry software is required
  • Strong workplace health and safety practices
  • Flexible, well organized, interested in technical and personal advancement
  • Ability to carry out assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong report-writing skills and verbal communication in English are essential
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Computer proficiency with common industry software is required. Experience with GIS and CAD software is an asset
  • Ability to follow workplace health and safety practices is essential
  • Must own vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid (G-Level) Ontario Driver's License
  • Must be mobile and willing to work on a combination of field and office work, as travel will be required
