Powers Health is hiring for Environmental Services in Munster, IN.
Under the direction of the Environmental Services Director, the environmental services assistant services the facility to assist in providing a clean, attractive, safe environment for patients, visitors and hospital staff.
Environmental Service Assistant Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Performs all basic cleaning necessary to keep assigned areas in accordance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation Standards. Duties can include: sweeping, mopping, stripping, scrubbing, refinishing, vacuuming, and spot cleaning floors. Clean and polish surfaces. Clean vertical and horizontal surfaces. Collects and transports medical waste or clean/dirty linen. Cleans windows, changes window treatments and cubicle curtains, washes walls.
  • Must maintain all environmental services equipment, which includes floor scrubbers and vacuum cleaners.
  • Cleans and disinfects patient rooms during hospital stay and after patient discharge.
  • Assists in the control of pests, such as rodents and insects by reporting to the maintenance department.
  • Restock all sanitation products in assigned areas.
  • Moves furniture or heavy objects to provide pathway for cleaning purposes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • No experience required.
  • Able to read written instructions and comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
