What You'll Do

Make safety visible. Drive compliance. Protect people.

Pelican is seeking an energetic and hands-on EH&S Coordinator to help build and maintain a world-class safety culture at our South Deerfield facility. In this role, you'll be a highly visible presence on the manufacturing floor, partnering with employees and leaders to promote safe work practices, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and support environmental stewardship. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, engaging with employees, leading safety initiatives, and making a direct impact on workplace safety and operational excellence.

 

Safety & Environmental Leadership

  • Serve as a visible EH&S partner throughout the facility, promoting a proactive and engaged safety culture
  • Conduct facility inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard evaluations to identify improvement opportunities
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action initiatives to prevent recurrence
  • Support injury prevention, ergonomics, housekeeping, behavior-based safety, and continuous improvement programs
  • Manage hazardous waste activities and support environmental compliance initiatives
  • Monitor EH&S performance metrics and help drive data-driven improvements
  • Support emergency preparedness, response planning, and regulatory compliance efforts

Training & Employee Engagement

  • Develop and deliver safety and environmental training programs
  • Maintain training records, compliance documentation, and training schedules
  • Coach employees and leaders on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and incident reporting
  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives that strengthen safety ownership across the facility

Workers' Compensation & Compliance

  • Partner with Human Resources and Operations to support workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and workplace accommodations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations
  • Prepare and support required environmental and safety reporting activities

Security & Asset Protection

  • Support programs designed to protect employees, facilities, equipment, and company assets
  • Assist with security inspections, investigations, access control systems, employee badging, and workplace violence prevention initiatives
  • Partner with Corporate Security and local law enforcement agencies when necessary
  • Support facility security procedures, traffic flow programs, and asset protection activities

Continuous Improvement

  • Serve as a key resource for EH&S systems, compliance programs, and best practices
  • Maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and EH&S documentation
  • Collaborate with Operations, Facilities, Human Resources, Engineering, and other departments to integrate safety into daily operations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or related environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety programs.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective problem-solving, analytical, and root cause investigation skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and influence positive safety behaviors at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
