Inspection Experts, Inc. (IEI)

Location: Columbia, MD
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $49,920 - $58,240

Position Overview

Inspection Experts, Inc. (IEI) is an engineering, environmental and facilities solutions company in Columbia, MD. IEI is currently seeking an ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST to assist clients in monitoring and managing environmental hazards and contaminants in various media (air, water, soil, etc.) while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

Growth Opportunity:

  • Support federal environmental health programs and learn the applications of industrial hygiene, drinking water compliance and environmental regulations with hands-on experience.
  • Learn the utilization of environmental sampling equipment and calibration of such equipment per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of federal policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of building occupants.

Responsibilities:

As an environmental scientist, candidate may be required to support following tasks:

  • Inspect facilities, wetlands, storm-water outlets and waste-water treatment plants to ensure that there are no environmental, health, or safety hazards;
  • Set up and maintain equipment used to monitor contaminants;
  • Collect samples of air, soil, water, and other materials for laboratory analysis;
  • Prepare charts and reports that summarize test results and provide recommendations for remediation;
  • Communicate with clients, third parties, and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules and compliance issues;
  • Provide input on technical and cost proposals and meet budgets established by management.

Qualifications:

Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science or related field. The qualified candidate shall be a recent graduate or someone looking to change careers.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen;
  • Must be willing to travel and work off-hours to support sample collect efforts;
  • Ability to pass a physical and respirator use examination under HAZWOPER requirements;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle license and comply with the company drug screening policy.
