Position Overview
We are seeking a Wetlands Scientist to join the Pittsburgh, PA office. In this role, you will conduct environmental fieldwork, perform wetland and stream delineations, habitat assessments, and prepare technical reports and permit applications. This position directly supports permitting and compliance for large-scale energy, utility, and infrastructure projects, such as pipelines, transmission lines, substations, and renewable energy facilities. Key Responsibilities
Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, and habitat evaluations in the field
Support siting, routing, and permitting for energy and infrastructure projects
Prepare environmental permit applications (e.g., U.S. Army Corps Section 404/10, PA DEP Chapters 102 & 105)
Coordinate with state, federal, and local regulatory agencies during project development
Prepare technical reports and contribute to environmental assessments and planning studies
Assist with remediation, soil and groundwater sampling, and other environmental field services as needed
Provide emergency spill response oversight and data analysis when required
Support project teams with strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills
Travel locally and regionally (20–30%) to support fieldwork and client projects
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Engineering, Planning, or a related field
4+ years of experience in environmental consulting, wetland science, or regulatory compliance
Prior wetland delineation experience; WPIT or PWS certification (or ability to obtain) preferred
Strong knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory processes
Ability to work independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
Excellent organizational, technical writing, and communication skills
Willingness to travel (primarily within PA, occasional regional) 20–30% of the time
Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant work
