Project Description:
DRT provides GIS solutions to address diverse, complex, and emerging problems within the public health domains of environmental health, infectious disease, chronic disease, and emergency preparedness/response. Our support includes the design, development, and enhancements of internal and external applications, websites, and database solutions with geospatial components. Our team develops innovative data capture and analysis techniques in the field to enhance emergency response efforts all around the world.
Job Summary:
The GIS Application Developer Senior works directly with public health GIS analysts, coordinators, epidemiologists, and other technologists to design, develop, deploy, and maintain IT solutions. The developer builds complex applications for new and existing complex GIS systems. Following an Agile DevOps methodology, builds and tests systems their integration.
Responsibilities:
  • Designs, configures, customizes, and deploys new features to existing solutions; builds features from customer requirements, managing data flows, and performing routine maintenance, enhancements, and bug fixes
  • Develops and manages a schedule to meet deliverables and establish estimated completion dates
  • Follows the government’s software development lifecycle framework and provides agreed upon project documentation
  • Supports requirements elicitation and provide feedback to optimize requirements to align to development best practices; works with business owners and analysts to define workflows and develop user stories
  • Completes tasks on time with minimal supervision but supports collaboration across teams
  • Provide performance monitoring and tuning, service configuration, security, and licensing when needed
  • Provide user management support
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
  • Administer Enterprise Geodatabases using SQL
  • Automate analysis and reporting tasks using scripting languages such as Python/JavaScript to support field operations
  • Produce static and interactive cartographic products to communicate complex concepts to audiences of all types
Required Experience:
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in IT development roles
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with relational database management systems using SQL
  • Three (3) or more years of GIS analysis experience
  • Experience with developing mobile-first/responsive, dynamic, and scalable web applications
  • Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis, map projections, etc.
  • Excellent data management skills

  • Web Mapping: MapLibre, OpenLayers, ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript
  • API Integration: ASP.NET web api, REST api
