Your Opportunity
Our Building Specialty Services (BSS) group is one of the fastest growing service offerings at our organization that includes a diverse mix of professionals with practical design, field, and industry research and product development expertise. This group is able to seek the best projects with the best clients because they deliver expertise that empower designers to create high performing buildings without compromising budget or function.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Review design documents, shop drawings, and trade submittals prepared by third parties for conformance with good building practice with respect to water intrusion, air leakage, vapor diffusion, thermal performance and differential movement
  • Assist in Building Envelope design and construction document development
  • Interface with architects, general contractors and sub-trades
  • Lead meetings and document discussions
  • Undertake field review of both new construction and rehabilitation projects to confirm that the construction of the building envelope assemblies is proceeding per approved mock-ups and design document
  • Prepare site visit reports and use this database to generate Action Lists of outstanding deficiencies and track their resolution
  • Undertake field testing of selected elements of building envelope assemblies to confirm compliance with specified performance standards (primarily water infiltration and air leakage) and prepare reports outlining the results of these tests
  • Perform forensic analysis of building envelope failures
  • Assist in field work associated with the assessment of existing buildings and the preparation of building envelope assessment reports
  • Manages and coordinates small and large projects including project financials
  • Oversee and mentor junior staff on projects
  • Conducts business development to secure revenue-generating projects
  • Prepares proposals and establish project financial budgets
  • Participates in continuing education
  • Performs various office related tasks

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Excellent knowledge of Building Science principles and Building Envelope assemblies
  • 6 years of experience in building science consultation or equivalent knowledge of building envelope systems
  • Organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks on multiple projects
  • Project management experience

Education and Experience
