Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an experienced Senior Environmental Planner to join our growing environmental team in Indianapolis and support transportation projects across the East Central region. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build on your technical foundation while growing into increased ownership of environmental tasks, project delivery, and team support. You will work alongside a strong multidisciplinary team that is helping deliver major transportation projects throughout the region, with opportunities to expand your leadership responsibilities, mentor junior staff, and play a larger role in client service and project execution.
This role will be on a hybrid schedule in a Parsons East Central region office.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Support and lead environmental planning and documentation efforts for transportation projects across the East Central region, with a strong emphasis on Indiana-based work.
  • Apply solid experience with the NEPA process and one or more related environmental disciplines.
  • Perform transportation planning work assignments, including data collection and research, corridor and regional studies, multimodal planning and design, compiling results, and report writing.
  • Apply foundational knowledge of NEPA guidelines to develop planning strategies that support regional roadway and highway projects.
  • Support projects involving roadway and/or bridge improvements.
  • Work within relevant Federal and Indiana environmental procedures, including those of the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
  • Assist in preparation, coordination, and facilitation of public involvement activities, consensus-building meetings, and workshops.
  • Manage priorities and effectively track internal and external deadlines and deliverables.
  • Contribute to an environment of collaboration, mentorship, and continued growth across the environmental team.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring
  • Task/project management experience, including a record of delivering within the required scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Experience overseeing and supporting the growth of more junior team members.
  • Experience communicating with project stakeholders including resource agencies and the general public.
  • Support business development activities including project pursuits and preparation of letters of interest.
  • An attitude of partnership with our clients.

Qualifications
  • 4-year degree in environmental science, planning, engineering, or related field
  • 5 years or more of related work experience
  • Relevant professional certifications (AICP, PWS, CPESC, etc.) are desirable, but not required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with ArcGIS and ArcGIS online
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Previous consulting experience a plus

Salary Range: $74,800.00 - $130,900.00
