Job description

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist – Water for one of our clients operating a large-scale industrial facility in the Western United States.

This is a hands-on environmental position with a strong focus on water compliance, groundwater monitoring, sampling, and regulatory reporting. The Environmental Specialist will work closely with EHS, operations, engineering, environmental consultants, laboratories, and regulatory partners to support a complex environmental program and maintain compliance across site operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support water and groundwater monitoring, sampling, testing, and compliance activities across facility operations.
  • Coordinate environmental sampling and work with laboratories, consultants, and contractors to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain water quality and environmental data for regulatory reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Support groundwater monitoring and remediation programs, including coordination with environmental consultants and technical teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, regulatory documentation, and records related to water and environmental compliance programs.
  • Conduct facility inspections and identify potential environmental compliance issues and corrective actions.
  • Support environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, audits, and agency inspections.
  • Maintain environmental records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Support environmental incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and EHS teams to integrate environmental requirements into day-to-day facility activities.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in water, groundwater, environmental compliance, or a related environmental role within an industrial environment.
  • Hands-on experience with water quality monitoring, environmental sampling, data collection, regulatory reporting, and compliance programs.
  • Experience supporting groundwater monitoring, remediation, or related environmental programs is preferred.
  • Experience in mining, mineral processing, chemical processing, manufacturing, or other heavy industrial operations preferred.
  • Experience working within California’s environmental regulatory environment is a strong plus.
  • Experience working with state or regional water agencies is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong technical documentation, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on industrial environment and collaborate across multiple departments.
