Your duties involve suggesting and investigating methods for mitigating environmental impact and developing best practices for project managers to follow. Educational qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental sciences or project management. Prior work experience in engineering or construction will set you ahead of other candidates and allow you to gather the knowledge and skills required to work on larger projects.
What is the difference between Environmental Project Manager vs Environmental Engineer?
| Aspect | Environmental Project Manager | Environmental Engineer |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field; often PMP or project management certifications | Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental engineering or related field; engineering licensure may be preferred |
| Work Environment | Oversees projects, manages teams, liaises with clients and stakeholders, often in office and field settings | Designs solutions, conducts technical analysis, works in labs or field sites, and collaborates with engineers and scientists |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Consulting firms, government agencies, construction companies, environmental service providers | Engineering firms, government agencies, industrial companies, research institutions |
