Job Description

The Environmental Project Manager will lead and oversee complex petroleum-related projects across the State of Illinois, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements—including those governed by the Illinois Environmental Protection Act, the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), and applicable UST regulations. This role is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, contractor performance, and stakeholder communication for a portfolio of environmental, infrastructure, and operational projects at active and former retail petroleum facilities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Produce technical reports for the Petroleum/EM service line.
  • Manage Petroleum and other environmental projects, including Illinois-based projects.
  • Support 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Marathon projects and client needs.
  • Perform technical reviews and ensure quality and accuracy of project deliverables.
  • Manage and oversee field staff activities and performance.
  • Coordinate and prioritize day-to-day project tasks and workload.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support successful project execution.
  • Abide by Atlas’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Biology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Illinois EPA LUST regulations.
  • Adhere to Atlas and site-specific safety standards.
  • Ability to manage, prepare, and review technical reports.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Technical knowledge of Illinois LUST regulations preferred.

    The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
