Job description

The Team Leader, Living Room is a part of the management structure of the program, and reports to the Program Director of the McHenry Crisis Response program. The Team Leader is responsible for the direct supervision of the team in order to ensure quality service delivery to guests of the Living Room, functioning as the senior manager or "player coach" of the team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assumes the leadership role within the Living Room team and in monitoring the implementation of Living Room services. Models creating an accepting and calming environment to ensure team adherence to and understanding of Living Room concept and goals.
  • Supervises the intake process such that guests are assessed in a warm, nurturing and welcoming way, and that natural supports as well as guests' personal goals are assessed and considered in treatment recommendations. Works with the Intake Workers to ensure safety for individuals being assessed as well as current guests.
  • In collaboration with Program Director, directly addresses risk and behavioral issues so that all guests and staff are assured of a safe environment.
  • Supervises linkage recommendations and case management processes such that guests are referred to and provided support in accessing appropriate services.
  • Assures collaboration with referral sources as well as programs to which guests may be referred.
  • Actively leads and oversees the activities of team staff members who provide supportive services, connect guests to natural supports, and teach crisis management services.
  • Monitors and coaches' staff on providing support and teaching evidence-based crisis self-management skills.
  • Conducts at least weekly team meetings where adherence to Living Room goals and philosophy, operations issues, staff training and development needs, case consultation, and other support needed are discussed and documented.
  • Reviews all required logs and other documentation. Maintains the quality, validity and confidentiality of documentation and logs according to licensing standards and agency traditions. Assures that all assigned documentation is completed accurately, on time and is organized in a systematic manner.
  • Supervises data collection regarding source and number of requests for services, repeat services, and guest-generated feedback on services.
  • Conducts annual evaluations in a timely manner for all team staff. Develops specific goals and objectives and provide the method and opportunity for each team staff to succeed in their professional development.
  • Participates in the hiring sequence of the agency and make recommendations on the hiring or termination of team staff.
  • Follows agency standards regarding supervision.
  • Supports Living Room staff in learning about innovations in the field through in person, virtual, and on-line training opportunities.
  • Assists Program Director with the development and coaching of staff, to ensure they consistently meet agency standards.
  • Schedule: 2nd shift, Tuesday thru Saturday 3pm-11:30pm

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Takes a lead role with marketing the Living Room Program.
  • Participates in the implementation of Thresholds emergency plans related to extreme weather or other emergency conditions.
  • Works flexible schedule including work on weekends or evenings as required. May be required to be on-call.

EDUCATION
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or closely related field required.
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and/or Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) certification a plus.

EXPERIENCE
  • One (1) - two (2) years clinical experience.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, including the ability to use email, navigate and enter notes into electronic medical records and working knowledge of pertinent software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of group dynamics required.
  • Lived experience of mental health recovery is preferred.
