Job description

4-6 years of public relations experience

At Braintrust, we're a smart, passionate, and collaborative team of marketers, strategists, and creatives who help brands grow through insight-driven strategy and fearless creativity. We drive business transformation through bold ideas, fueled by data and instinct.

We're looking for an experienced Public Relations Manager to join our talented PR team and take ownership of media relations, strategy, and client success across a diverse portfolio of accounts, including travel & hospitality, retail, non-profit, and professional services. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships with media and clients alike, translating strategy into compelling stories, and mentoring the next generation of PR talent.

As Public Relations Manager, you'll lead PR strategy and execution for multiple clients, cultivate strong media relationships, guide junior team members, and help drive new business for the agency.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, implement, and manage public relations campaigns and strategies to enhance client visibility and engagement across multiple accounts.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client requests related to media, imagery, and PR deliverables, providing exceptional service on every call and in every meeting.
  • Write, edit, and proofread press releases, pitches, and other materials to ensure consistency with brand guidelines.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong media relationships within client industries to amplify brand messaging and reach.
  • Organize and manage press conferences, media events, and other PR activations.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and spokesperson during crises, providing timely and transparent communication to stakeholders.
  • Develop annual communications and marketing plans in partnership with clients and monitor the effectiveness of PR strategies over time.
  • Maintain content archives, contribute to weekly team updates, and create monthly reports demonstrating campaign success and KPIs.
  • Support new business efforts with pitch materials, press releases, case studies, and presentations that showcase the agency's expertise.
  • Provide counsel and guidance to junior PR team members.
  • Collaborate with other agency departments to ensure deadlines are met and work stays aligned with client objectives.
  • Stay current on industry trends and tools in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with quick turnarounds.
What You Bring
  • 4-6 years of experience in the public relations industry; agency experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the nonprofit, entertainment, healthcare, or professional services sectors.
  • Knowledge of Muck Rack or similar media management platforms.
  • Strong existing relationships with key local, regional, and national media.
  • Extensive experience developing and maintaining PR strategies to meet client objectives.
  • A strong background in conceptual thinking and campaign development.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the confidence to share ideas with clients and leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a collaborative team environment.
What Will Make You Successful
  • You build trust quickly with clients and media contacts alike.
  • You think strategically but never lose sight of the details.
  • You bring fresh ideas and aren't afraid to pitch big.
  • You mentor and lift up the people around you.
  • You stay ahead of industry trends and bring that insight back to your clients.
  • You care about doing great work and seeing your clients succeed.
What It's Like Here

We value inclusion, smarts, passion, accountability, respect, and knowledge. We work hard, think big, and care deeply about what we do. We believe in flexibility, collaboration, and ideas that challenge the status quo.

At Braintrust, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, not only on client success, but on the growth and evolution of the agency itself.
