Strategic Large Customers - Manager, Policy
Position Summary
Determine the appropriate policy direction alternatives and develop recommendations for the company's regulatory and legislative strategy on strategic large customers and data centers. Support Company's growth strategy in serving strategic large customers. Work directly with senior management to develop regulatory and legislative policies and strategies that support the company's strategic goals and objectives. Consult with legislative, regulatory and subject matter experts throughout the company and industry to establish progressive and consistent policies/strategies. Develop external messaging in collaboration with communications and media affairs teams. Prepare and deliver supporting testimony in regulatory proceedings, administrative rulemaking and legislative hearings as necessary.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Identify impacts of regulatory and legislative initiatives (economic, environmental, structural, etc) on company positions from state-specific and national perspectives. Make decisions on regulatory and legislative actions to be taken in assigned jurisdictions. Develop alternatives to the point where they are taken to senior management for final decision-making.
  • Communicate (written and oral) regularly with senior management and internal customers to ensure awareness of current regulatory and legislative issues that impact the company as related to strategic large customers. Work directly with senior management throughout the company to develop and promote regulatory and legislative policy positions. Collaborate with regulatory compliance activities with business units for assigned jurisdictions.
  • Continuously interact with regulators, stakeholders, and internal customers to identify and proactively pursue results that reflect the company's regulatory and legislative policies and strategies regarding matters such as industry structure, affiliate/code of conduct issues, reliability standards, renewable generation and energy efficiency mandates and other policies and initiatives that affect the company's operations and financial health.
  • Advocate the company's positions with regulators and stakeholders in a variety of forums (e.g. regulatory proceedings, administrative rulemakings, legislative hearings, etc.). Advocate policies in assigned jurisdictions that are consistent with company policies in other jurisdictions. Maintain oversight of regulatory rulemaking activities in assigned jurisdictions and direct preparation of written and oral comments. Prepare and deliver supporting testimony as required.
  • Direct preparation of written comments, testimony, and briefing materials on regulatory and legislative policy matters.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS in business, economics, engineering, natural sciences or related discipline.
  • Five to seven years or equivalent experience in regulatory or policy field.
  • Specific experience in dealing with regulatory agencies required.
  • Occasional overnight travel and extensive overtime required.
  • Must be able to use PC software such as Word and Excel. Fluency in artificial intelligence tools helpful.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $112,200.00 to $159,400.00 per year
