They typically work for environmental services companies, laboratories, or waste management firms, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Their responsibilities include conducting chemical inventories, segregating incompatible materials, labeling, and preparing documentation for proper disposal. These chemists play a critical role in protecting public health and the environment by safely managing chemical waste streams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an environmental lab pack chemist?

To thrive as an Environmental Lab Pack Chemist, you need a solid background in chemistry or environmental science, often requiring a bachelor's degree and knowledge of hazardous materials regulations. Familiarity with chemical inventory systems, waste profiling software, and safety protocols such as OSHA and DOT regulations is essential. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication are vital soft skills for accurate documentation and team coordination. These abilities ensure the safe handling, identification, and disposal of hazardous materials, minimizing risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
