What is an environmental internship?

Environmental internships are temporary positions, often offered to students or recent graduates, where individuals gain practical experience in fields related to environmental science, policy, conservation, or sustainability. These internships may involve tasks such as research, data collection, fieldwork, or assisting with environmental projects and outreach. They provide valuable hands-on learning opportunities, help interns build professional networks, and can be a step toward a career in the environmental sector.

What do environmental interns do?

As an environmental intern, you can expect to assist with a variety of projects such as field data collection, laboratory analysis, report writing, and research on environmental policies or regulations. You may also help organize community outreach events, support environmental impact assessments, or contribute to sustainability initiatives within the organization. Interns often work closely with experienced environmental scientists, engineers, or project managers, providing valuable hands-on experience and exposure to real-world challenges in the field. The specific tasks can vary depending on the organization's focus, but teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail are essential.

What skills and qualifications are needed for an environmental internship?
