Job description

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer Intern to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO this summer.
Responsibilities:
Work on concurrent defensive cyber operations-space (DCO-S) projects as part of fielding defensive cyber capabilities for legacy and future space mission systems as part of US Space Force, Combat Forces Command (CFC), Mission Delta 6. Perform work at a contractor facility located in Colorado Springs, CO.
The duties and responsibilities of the Cybersecurity Engineering Intern include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in the configuration, testing, and build-up of cybersecurity hardware at contractor-operated logistics facility.
  • Learn to apply various commercially-available and/or government-developed cybersecurity tools to enhance identification, detection, protection and response missions.
  • Assist in enhancing development and test of advanced cybersecurity tools and capabilities.
  • Aid in implementing switch and/or firewall configurations, software installs, security controls, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Provide general cybersecurity engineering support to facilitate fielding and sustainment efforts.
  • Prepare reports and briefings for presentation to supervisors, as needed
  • Participate in and provide feedback during advanced capability and technology demonstrations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Junior or Senior year in your collegiate academic studies.
  • Working towards a degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems, or related engineering field.
  • Be a self-starter, thrive in a dynamic environment, able to accomplish high-level tasks independently, and work well with other team members.
  • Basic working knowledge of network system engineering tools such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Red Hat/Linux, scripting, and relevant programming languages.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools.
  • Some experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and Jira.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Clearance Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.

The pay range for this position in is $17-28 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors.
