Job description

Merit Professional Services is looking to hire an Environmental Compliance Inspector for our inspection route located in South Austin and San Antonio area. In this role, you will help construction companies comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations by inspecting stormwater pollution prevention controls on active job sites.
About the Job:
Our Environmental Compliance Inspectors enjoy flexible hours and a dynamic work environment. As an Environmental Compliance Inspector, you will be assigned 10 to 15 construction projects to visit per day. While on site, you will observe stormwater pollution prevention controls and verify that they are in good condition and that they are working properly.  Your observations will be compiled into a report that is sent to the on site construction manager/superintendent.  It is also the inspector's responsibility to update and maintain the project's Stormwater Prevention Pollution Plan (SWPPP).
You will communicate directly with construction project managers on what actions they need to take in order to maintain compliance with local, TCEQ, and EPA regulations.
Requirements:
  • A B.S. in Environmental Sciences or similar degree, or equivalent experience in Stormwater Inspecting/Consulting, is preferred but not required.
  • Construction experience is helpful but not required.
  • You must be comfortable driving several hours each day, working in the elements, and physically able to walk construction projects.
  • You must have excellent customer service skills and be comfortable interacting in person with each project's onsite client representative.
  • Computer literacy, fast typing, and the ability to navigate and use the Microsoft Office Suite are required.
  • Must be safety-conscious and willing to follow OSHA and site-specific safety protocols while working on active construction sites.
  • Must possess a clean driving record and must be able to pass a preemployment background check and drug test.
  • This is not a remote position!
