Job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education - High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required at hire or must be obtained within 12 months of hire date.
Experience - Two (2) years of progressively responsible janitorial training or experience is strongly preferred.
Licenses & Certification -
Knowledge & Skills -
  1. Knowledge of janitorial/housekeeping practices and procedures used in health care facilities.
  2. Knowledge of germicides, disinfectants, cleaning supplies, etc. used in providing environmental services in a health care facility.
  3. Knowledge and skill in the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the performance of position duties.
  4. General working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repair will benefit the incumbent.
  5. Ability to courteously and effectively communicate with patients, visitors, co-workers and others that may occupy the facility at any time.
  6. Ability to carry out written and verbal instructions.
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to maintain an aesthetic, clean and safe environment within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health facilities for patients and their families, staff, visitors and the general public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a hospital setting. There is common exposure to infections, infectious and communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals and biohazardous materials. Incumbent must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as required while performing the duties of the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires incumbent to be on his/her feet for the entire work period. There is also a great deal of regular bending, lifting, stooping, climbing and stretching required in the performance of duites. Incumbent must be able to lift at least fifty (50) pounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:
  1. Cleans hospital patient areas, surgery, patient dismissal rooms, baths, lavatories, offices, halls and other areas of the facility.
  2. Assists in the stripping and waxing of floors as necessary.
  3. Ensuring patient rooms are ready for newly admitted patients in a timely manner.
  4. Washes beds and mattresses, and remakes beds after dismissal of patients.
  5. Keeps utility and storage rooms organized and in a clean and orderly condition.
  6. Distributes laundered articles and linens.
  7. Replace soiled drapes and cubicle curtains.
  8. May disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies, using germicides and sterilizing.
  9. Regular attendance is required.
  10. Performs other duties as required.
  11. Replenish and maintain stock of supplies.
  12. Transport trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
  13. Perform other duties as required.
