Job description

The Multifamily Inspector performs on-site quality assurance inspections of subcontractor work within our multifamily energy efficiency programs. As an Inspector, you will visit residences/project sites at the start, during and/or upon completion of work, with follow-up visits as needed to ensure customer satisfaction. This position is full-time, Monday - Friday, and will work in our RISE Cranston office location.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Interpret written and sketched work orders.
  • Train, direct and maintain good working relationships with installation crews.
  • Interact with homeowners, property managers, or building owners effectively and diplomatically during site visits and when issues arise.
  • Facilitate on-site work to ensure completion in a timely manner.
  • Employ inspection methods to ensure that all installed materials and equipment adhere to quality standards.
  • Document findings, including digital photos of any problems/discrepancies.
  • Resolve any minor deficiencies or customer issues during inspection visit.
  • Create and approve change orders as needed.
  • Obtain property manager or building owner signatures on work completion forms and prepare inspection reports.
  • Communicate with the RISE office, homeowners, contractors, municipal building officials and others in a clear, professional and timely manner.
  • With company support, obtain BPI Envelope Professional certification within six months of hire.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned to support the team.
  • Work Environment:
  • This job operates indoors and outdoors.  In this position the incumbent maybe frequently exposed to varying conditions with exposure to any or all of the following:  heat, cold, heights, dust, dirt, indoors, outdoors and confined areas.

Required Education and Experience:

  • At least three years of building construction/remodeling experience, including knowledge of carpentry, electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Experience interacting with customers and contractors.
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to tactfully avoid conflict and build mutual respect.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • A commitment to and enthusiasm for energy efficiency.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and the ability to travel daily to customers’ homes.
  • Able to pass criminal background and drug screening tests.

Preferred:

  • Experience installing insulation and air sealing.
  • Building construction/remodeling supervisory experience.
  • BPI Envelope Professional certification.

Work Environment:

This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and regularly uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and other business machines. The role also requires periodic work in field environments, which may involve exposure to varying conditions such as heat, cold, heights, dust, dirt, indoor and outdoor settings, and confined spaces.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  May be requested to work additional time as determined by the needs of the department.

Travel:

Travel throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts daily basis.
