Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Building Envelope Consultant is responsible for driving IMETCOโ€™s growth through a combination of technical building science expertise and strong communication skills. This role requires deep knowledge of building envelope systems and the ability to confidently present complex building science conceptsโ€”such as thermal performance, air barrier systems, and moisture managementโ€”to large technical audiences including architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants. The Building Envelope Consultant identifies customer needs, develops engineered solutions, and represents IMETCO products professionally, profitably, and ethically.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high-impact technical presentations on building science topics such as air barrier performance, thermal efficiency, and hygrothermal behavior to large professional audiences.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, engineers, and contractors to identify project requirements and recommend IMETCO solutions.
  • Review blueprints and specifications to prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and submittals.
  • Utilize building envelope modeling tools (e.g., WUFI, THERM, HEAT3, etc.) for thermal and hygrothermal simulations to support design decisions.
  • Provide guidance on code compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainable design principles.
  • Manage the sales cycle from prospecting through project close, coordinating with technical support, operations, and management.
  • Assist with specifications, product integration, and installation recommendations.
  • Stay current on building science research, codes, and industry standards.
  • Prepare technical reports and market insights to support company strategy.
  • Represent IMETCO at trade shows, conferences, and educational workshops.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building envelope design, building science, or technical sales related to roofing, wall, or faรงade systems.
  • EIT or equivalent certification required; PE or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building science principles, including heat, air, and moisture transfer, and familiarity with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, ASTM, etc.).
  • Knowledge of building envelope performance modeling software (e.g., WUFI, THERM, HEAT3, or similar).
  • Air barrier or building science certifications (e.g., ABAA, BECxP, CxA+BE, LEED AP BD+C, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively educate and influence large technical audiences.
  • Proven consultative sales approach with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and willingness to travel up to 50%.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or climbing at project sites.
  • Must tolerate varying weather conditions and construction environments.
  • Regular use of computers, presentation tools, and office equipment.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance required.
