Be our nextย Senior Building Science Technician/ Technologist!

Your work environment at EXP

Based in our Calgary office, you'll work within a collaborative Building Science team supporting new construction, restoration, and existing building projects. Your role blends officebased technical work with regular site visits, working closely with Architects, Engineers, Clients, and Contractors.

As a senior team member, you'll provide technical leadership, mentorship to junior staff, and contribute to project delivery and client relationships in a fastpaced, professional, employeeowned environment.


What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Building envelope design review of the architectural drawings and specifications
  • Review of submittals, shop drawings, substitution requests and, request for information ย 
  • Mock-up review, plant visits and witness testing
  • Attendance of meetings with the Architects, Clients, Contractors, and Trades
  • Assessment of building envelope assemblies in existing buildings
  • Report writing and review of reports from junior staff members
  • Providing technical guidance to junior staff and clients
  • Design and preparation of construction documents of building envelope assemblies in restorationย 
    Preparing proposals
  • Preparing specifications and drawings for rehabilitation and design projects
  • Conducting construction contract administration and construction review services
  • Performing building condition assessments, performance audit, asset and property
  • Review/assessment, reserve fund studies, design, and coordinating various building repair(s)
  • Liaising with clients, building strong client relationships, and generating new business
  • Mentoring junior staff


What your experience looks like

  • 7+ years of technical experience in building science with proven ability to manage projects and help facilitate business development
  • College degree or diploma in a related field of study such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Science
  • In depth knowledge of various building envelope systems and assemblies is required
  • In-depth knowledge of standards and guidelines related to building envelope systems and assemblies is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Building Code and energy standards is an asset
  • Experience in new construction projects is required
  • Experience in building condition assessment, building envelope condition assessments and restoration is an asset
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required for site visits
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients and co-workers
  • Ability to work effectively in a high demand and fast-paced environment
