Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for business development and strategic market growth within the Data Center vertical by promoting AWIP products and services to hyperscale operators, colocation providers, general contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and specification writers supporting digital infrastructure construction.

The Data Center Vertical Market Business Development Manager will be measured on specification growth, target account conversion, Data Center project pipeline expansion, and overall revenue growth for AWIP wall and roof systems within this strategic market segment.

Primary Focus

The primary focus of this role is to establish AWIP as the preferred insulated metal panel (IMP) partner in the data center industry. This includes:

  • Building strategic relationships with hyperscale cloud providers, colocation companies, mission-critical architects and engineers, and national contractors.
  • Driving specification and standardization of AWIP insulated metal panels across data center programs.
  • Creating new business opportunities through intelligence gathering, vertical-market outreach, and long-term account development.
  • Supporting AWIP's broader commercial objectives by aligning solutions with the unique thermal, speed-to-market, and resiliency needs of data center construction.

Essential Functions

        Develop and implement an annual business development plan targeting growth of AWIP insulated metal panel wall and roof systems within the Data Center vertical.         Meet or exceed assigned sales revenue and specification goals for data center customers and projects.         Build, maintain, and continuously develop a target account list including hyperscale operators, colocation providers, mission-critical architects, engineering firms, general contractors, and key consultants.         Conduct strategically planned market outreach to generate long-term value-driven relationships that lead to increased opportunities for AWIP Territory Managers.         Identify, track, and influence data center construction programs at the earliest stages-master planning, programming, budgeting, and design.         Deliver AIA and industry-focused technical presentations to architects, engineers, consultants, and design/build firms, with activity documented in CRM.         Drive increased specification adoption of AWIP IMP systems, ensuring alignment with data center performance requirements (thermal efficiency, envelope resiliency, speed of install, and sustainability).         Use Salesforce CRM to manage customer relationships, monitor project opportunities, forecast activity, and measure results toward assigned goals.         Utilize project intelligence tools and data center industry resources to monitor new builds, expansions, and campus-level opportunities.         Maintain deep subject matter expertise on AWIP products, with particular focus on data center applications, competitive differentiation, and value engineering strategies.         Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to support project engagement.         Prepare reports, forecasts, and strategic summaries as directed by the VP Sales.         Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience
  •  Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Engineering or technical background preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction materials, building envelope systems, insulated metal panels, or data-center-related products.
  •  Experience selling into mission-critical or complex technical markets strongly preferred.
  • Proven professional presentation skills with architects, engineers, and large enterprise accounts.
  •  Competence in reading drawings/specifications and working with design professionals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Must possess credit worthiness and a major credit card with a sufficient limit in order to maintain monthly travel expenses until reimbursed by the company.

  • Primary phone contact will be made by company provided mobile phone. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant.
