JOB SUMMARY
Envelope Machine Operator who will run all phases of the operation of envelope manufacturing and printing. This position operates envelope machine and interfaces with supervision and line employees to meet production standards, ensuring product quality of each box and carton. This position requires the skill or ability to operate one or more types of machinery and be willing to learn the operation and maintenance of all types of bindery machinery.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Pulls sheets according to guidelines to check quality and accuracy of work
• Completes all required paperwork necessary to the job
• Assists in the completion of records, job ticket information as required.
• Maintain level of housekeeping that complies with company standards, including organizing parts, tools, and materials and keeping machine and work areas clean.
• Loads envelope blanks in non-web machines and keeps gum and ink flowing.
• Inspects quality of envelopes; includes watching for roll outs, folding problems, gum leaks, printing problems, splits onside, and errors in window dimensions.
• Pulls envelope sample, packs envelopes, and assembles shipping cartons.
• Handles basic machine jams. Notifies adjuster of any machine problems.
• Maintains quality and quantity production standards.
• Minimizes waste by ensuring waste is segregated properly.
• Assists in training general workers and lower classification union members regarding operation of the press.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Communicates with supervisors, operators, and adjusters.
• Complies with safety rules and regulations (wear proper safety attire or coverings, hearing protection, safety glasses, shields and gloves as needed), is cautious near equipment and machines and always makes sure safety guards and contractors are in place and operational.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Some high school coursework is required. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• 2 years' experience in bindery machine operation preferred.

• Be team oriented - a team player, willing to work for the good of the total team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Requires frequent standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, grasping, and reaching.
• Ability to perform a volume of mechanical detail work with speed and accuracy; manual dexterity.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., carry 50 lbs., push 100 lbs., pull 75 lbs.
• Exposure to noise; must wear hearing protection and safety shoes.
