Job description

Rail Engineer In Training (EIT)

Support the design and development of railroad engineering projects under the guidance of a PE. Gain experience necessary for licensure and long-term growth into a senior rail engineer role.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Passed FE Exam and actively pursuing PE licensure.
  • 2-3 years of rail or transportation engineering experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing horizontal and vertical alignments for track design.
  • Perform field investigations and site inspections to support engineering studies.
  • Prepare plan sets using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Conduct calculations for rail geometry, drainage, and construction quantities.
  • Coordinate with surveyors, drafters, and other technical staff.
  • Research and apply relevant AREMA guidelines, FRA standards, and client-specific criteria.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and internal project teams.
  • Progress toward PE licensure through active learning and mentorship.
