Job description

Quality Supervisor – San Jose FacilityPosition Summary

Rocket EMS is seeking a self-motivated, hands-on Quality Supervisor for our San Jose facility. This position is responsible for leading Incoming Quality Control, In-Process Quality Control, and Final Quality Control inspectors while ensuring products meet customer requirements, internal quality standards, and applicable industry specifications.

The ideal candidate can work independently, effectively manage priorities and resources, develop team members, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to resolve quality and production issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Incoming Quality Control, In-Process Quality Control, and Final Quality Control inspectors.

  • Plan daily workloads and assign personnel based on production and shipment priorities.

  • Monitor individual and team productivity, provide feedback, and address performance concerns as needed.

  • Review Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs), process routings, drawings, bills of material, and other applicable documentation.

  • Ensure inspectors understand and consistently follow all applicable MPIs, specifications, procedures, and acceptance criteria.

  • Provide feedback to Engineering when MPIs, process routings, or other production documentation contain errors, inconsistencies, or unclear requirements.

  • Train and develop Quality Control inspectors to improve their technical knowledge, inspection skills, and understanding of quality requirements.

  • Ensure employees have the tools, documentation, equipment, and other resources needed to perform their work effectively.

  • Monitor the handling of parts and assemblies to prevent damage, contamination, or improper handling.

  • Investigate defects or quality issues that were not detected during inspection and implement appropriate corrective actions.

  • Review approved deviations and ensure their requirements are understood, properly implemented, and verified.

  • Establish, monitor, and report quality key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication among Quality team members.

  • Ensure accurate and complete shift handoffs, including the communication and follow-up of open quality issues and production priorities.

  • Attend daily shipment meetings and take appropriate action to support shipment requirements.

  • Communicate with and follow up with other departments when Final Quality Control does not receive assemblies within the required shipment-plan cutoff times.

  • Review and approve employee timecards daily.

  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • College degree with at least one year of supervisory experience; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of supervisory experience.

Experience in electronics manufacturing, printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), or a related manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, bills of material, manufacturing instructions, specifications, and related technical documentation.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to product quality and continuous improvement.

Pay Range
$75,000—$85,000 USD
