Job description

RK&K is seeking talented Roadway and Bridge Inspectors to work in and around Nashville, Tennessee. Our Construction, Engineering, and Inspection Division manages and supports mid-large CEI design, design-build, and inspection projects across the USA. Inspectors should have 2+ years of experience working on DOT and/or other Local agency construction programs.

Essential Functions

The ideal candidate for this position will work independently with Tennessee Department of Transportation and contractors while being responsible for:

  • Work on various roadway and bridge projects within the region's geographic area
  • Oversight of contractor's quality control operations
  • Quality Assurance sampling and testing
  • Completion of Daily Sampling and Testing Reports
  • Data input in SiteManager/LIMS
  • Daily communication with client, contractor, and field project personnel

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2 years of prior experience providing QA services
  • Candidates must be trustworthy and responsible
  • Must have a solid background in mathematics
  • Understand how to read and follow test specifications
  • Excellent driving record

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • TDOT Asphalt Plant Technician
  • TDOT HMA Certified Roadway Inspector
  • Aggregate Technician
  • TDOT Concrete Plant Technician
  • Nuclear Gauge Field Technician

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
