Job description

Job Summary:
The Quality Control Technician performs materials sampling, testing, inspection support, and documentation in accordance with Global Earthwork + Underground's Quality Control Program. This position supports heavy civil construction projects by ensuring compliance with applicable project specifications, agency requirements, and company quality standards. Quality Control Technicians work under the direction of the Quality Manager. They are responsible for the accurate execution of approved testing procedures and the timely reporting of results.
Key Responsibilities:
Materials Sampling & Testing
  • Perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials, including concrete, soils, and aggregates.
  • Conduct sampling and testing as directed by Quality Control Management.
  • Perform concrete placement testing.
  • Perform moisture-density and field density testing, including nuclear gauge testing where certified.
  • Accurately document and submit test results using company systems and approved reporting formats.
  • Assist with the maintenance of testing equipment and report calibration issues as identified.

Documentation & Compliance
  • Complete test forms and reports accurately and on time.
  • Follow approved testing procedures, project specifications, and company quality control standards.
  • Communicate test results, deficiencies, or concerns to Senior Technicians or Quality Control Management.
  • Support compliance with project-specific Quality Control Manuals and documentation requirements.
  • Prepare and submit reports through the company's Document Control System.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Basic understanding of construction materials and specifications.
  • Ability to follow detailed testing procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in field and lab environments.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel locally to project sites.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
  • Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, walk, stand; Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Work is often performed next to live traffic, in outdoor weather conditions, with and around large heavy civil construction machinery.
  • Work is also performed in a lab setting.
  • May be exposed to extreme outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including night shifts and overtime, as assigned.
