Job description

Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for machining and manufacturing parts for customers and projects. Your duties will include performing CNC machine setups, tooling adjustments and changeovers, as well as running and operating various machines such as CNC Okuma Mill, CNC Lathe, CNC Haas Mill, Press Brake, and Laser. You will also conduct minor program edits when necessary and perform quality inspections of your parts. The role involves working in a low-rate production job shop, typically performing 2-3 setups per week with tolerances ranging from 0.005 to 0.03 inches.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CNC machine setups, tooling adjustments, and changeovers.
  • Run and operate CNC Okuma Mill, CNC Lathe, CNC Haas Mill, Press Brake, and Laser.
  • Conduct minor program edits when necessary.
  • Perform quality inspections of machined parts.
  • Conduct daily preventative maintenance on machines including cooling changeovers and greasing.
  • Repair minor mechanical breakdowns.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with CNC machining and setup.
  • Proficient in reading and editing G Code Programming.
  • Experience in quality control of parts.
  • Ability to work with micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring devices.
  • 2-3 years of CNC machining experience preferred, especially with CNC Okuma Mills and Lathes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Open to entry-level candidates with a Degree in Precision Machining and strong G Code knowledge.
  • CNC Programming experience is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This is a 1st shift position, working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime is not available during the contract period but may be offered up to 2-3 hours per week afterwards. The non-climate controlled shop environment includes fans and bay doors for cooling in summer, and heaters in winter. Summer temperatures can reach up to 90 degrees, while winter temperatures are roughly in the 50s. The shop is equipped with 2 CNC Okuma Mills, 1 CNC Lathe, 1 CNC Haas Mill, a CNC Router, a Manual Mill, and a Manual Lathe.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SAINT LOUIS, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
