Lab Assistant

Join a leading healthcare facility as a Lab Assistant and become an integral part of the medical testing team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory setting, supporting laboratory professionals, and ensuring accurate and efficient specimen processing. Responsibilities

  • Sort and receive specimens in the laboratory department
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Center specimens by centrifuging and prepare them for testing
  • Print extra labels and record data such as temperature charts
  • Store and retrieve specimens accurately
  • Prepare reagents and media for laboratory use
  • Prepare specimens at workstations, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, and checking for clots or fibrin
  • Inoculate samples and prepare slides for microscopy
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control duties as assigned
  • Resolve pending sample lists and find missing samples
  • Decontaminate work areas and follow all safety protocols, including PPE requirements
  • Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests and change gas cylinders as needed
  • Maintain accurate department records and files
  • Use laboratory computer systems and operate PCs effectively
  • Properly dispose of biohazardous materials
  • Complete training and competency checklists to ensure compliance
